Mines Professional Associations' Secretariat

About US

The Mines Professional Associations’ Secretariat is unique in that it combines the effectiveness of a Secretariat for 12 Associations while meeting the individual needs of each organisation, all of which have different focal points with different Constitutions, different general modus operandi, and retaining focus on the needs of the members and the Mining Industry.

The Secretariat should therefore not be compared with the simple structure of one Secretariat with one large organisation. The Mines Professional Secretariat is a complex structure which requires far more focus from its staff and requires a special dedication by staff members to serve all 13 Organisations in the manner they wish to be served.

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a professional and cost efficient service to the Mines Professional Associations through effective administration and the best use of resources.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE SECRETARIAT

- To promote the status and professional standing of its members.
- To provide a forum for discussion and communication for the benefit of members and industry.
- To further and promote in the interests of the mining industry and the communities that serve them.
- To support the functioning and operations of the members by providing professional administrative secretarial and accounting services to each member.
- To discuss any development among members which may be regarded as inimical to their own interests and to those of the mining industry.

Services

The Mines Professional Association Secretariat is located within the Minerals Council South Africa building and provides secretarial and administrative services to 13 organisations. The current business activities are the ongoing co-ordination, management and administration of the following areas:
